• Parrish Road Show: Evan Desmond Yee
    THE APP STORE

    August 30, 2014 to October 13, 2014

For The App Store, artist Evan Desmond Yee creates a mock Apple storefront that displays the artist’s sculptural interpretations of iPhone applications. An “App” is a digital program designed to fulfill a particular real world function and in turn, augment and support the activities of its user. Yee’s analog art objects emulate their digital counterparts but with paradoxical material, weight and scale. With The App Store, Yee questions our obsession with design and whether or not technology will fulfill its promise of a virtual utopia.

Join us for a special program, Meet the Artist, on Saturday, October 11 at GeekHampton, for which artist Evan Desmond Yee will be on site to answer questions about his work.

Parrish Road Show is made possible, in part, by Caroline Hirsch and Sandy and Stephen Perlbinder, and Robby Stein and Alexandra McNear. Public funding provided by Suffolk County. Wines for both receptions provided by Niche Import Co. Special thanks to GeekHampton and Hallockville Museum Farm.
