The Parrish has a wide collection of educational materials to enhance classroom studies and to compliment a Museum visit. These resources include teaching materials for changing exhibitions, an art history slide library (consisting of over 10,000 slides), arts-in-education publications, videos/dvds, and slide kits of The Museum’s permanent collection.
Slide Kits Each slide kit includes slides and narrative as well as suggestions for class discussion and activities.
People, Places and Things: An introduction to the concepts and traditions of portraiture, landscape and still life. William Merritt Chase: Portrait of an American Artist Fairfield Porter: An American Intimist Introduction to Regional Architecture of the South Fork: This kit includes 3 lessons, a slide presentation and templates for related hands-on activities.
CD Packet Fairfield Porter: This CD includes over 30 images as well as biography, chronology, selected poems by the artist and his wife Anne Channing Porter, outline of themes and lesson plan ideas.
Professional Development for Educators The Parrish offers special membership to artists and teachers. Membership includes discounts on lectures, films, panel discussions and more. Contact The Museum’s Membership Department at 631-283-2118 ext. 45 for further information.
