Experience a new Africa through its rising creative talent at this outdoor screening of two remarkable 30 minute films from Senegal and Ghana, plus a live concert of African music by internationally renowned singer and choreographer Ismael & The Radiant Select.

Afripedia is a stunningly filmed documentary series about Africa's young generation that is challenging preconceptions and stereotypes. The visual mixtapes feature some of today's most compelling and provocative emerging visual artists, filmmakers, fashion designers, musicians, photographers, and cultural activists from Africa's largest metropolises. Afripedia, Ghana features Accra's Serge Attukwei Clottey who takes the polluted environment as a source of his artistic inspiration; Abrokwah, Computer Man & Black Fire, acrobats who have become the most sought-after bicycle circus; Jojo Abot, a striking singer and fashion designer; and Noella Wiyaala, an outspoken singer and performer. Afripedia, Senegal spotlights photographer Omar Viktor Diop, fashion designer Selly Raby Kane, cultural activist and blogger Ken Aicha Sy, and Khoudia Toure who organizes high energy urban circles. Afripedia was initiated by Stocktown Films as a collaborative project involving editors, curators, creatives, and artists. Special thanks to the New York African Film Festival

Ismael & The Radiant Select combine West African root with soul and funk, and feature band leader and vocalist Ismael Kouyate, vocalists Electra Weston and Iris Wilson; guitarists Matthew Albeck and Richard Padron; percussionist Abdoulaye Touré, drummer Andy Algire; bass player Ran Livneh, and keyboard player Takafumi Suenaga. Ismael Kouyate was born in Guinea, West Africa, to a long line of Griots, the oral historians who preserve history and culture through songs, music, and dance.
